Sealants are a non-invasive treatment that can be used in children and adults to protect and prevent decay from entering the enamel on the biting surface of posterior teeth. It is a quick and harmless procedure where a small coating is adhered to the tooth preventing plaque that causes decay from entering the crevices of the tooth where decay normally forms.

If you have sealants you still have to brush and floss. Think about it as extra protection to fight decay.
